Casino is a 1995 American epic crime film directed by Martin Scorsese, produced by Barbara De Fina and distributed by Universal Pictures. The film is based on the nonfiction book Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas by Nicholas Pileggi, who also co-wrote the screenplay for the film with Scorsese.

Overview
The 1970s were volatile times on the Las Vegas Strip. Full of gamblers and celebrity royalty, the Mob sees Las Vegas as a perfect opportunity to spread their reach. Sending in Ace Rothstein, this intelligent gambler becomes the boss at the Tangiers hotel. Skimming the hotel's profits for the Mob, Rothstein has a perfectly legitimate business in the middle of the desert. The Mob decides to send out Nicky Santoro, a small, but dangerous man, to protect Rothstein and all the hotel's assets. With Vegas flair, Rothstein falls in love with a hustler, named Ginger. Although she confesses that she has no love for Ace, they marry anyway and build a family. But trouble is on the way as friends become foes and the Vegas Strip slowly declines into a crumbling empire without a true king.
